Concert-talk at the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine

In 5 days

Driven by the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine's sustainable workshop, this concert-talk brings together the house orchestra, conducted by Marco Orazio Vallone, and explorer Evrard Wendenbaum. An evening halfway between shared knowledge and musical emotion, in the heart of place Stanislas.

A fresh format, between words and music

Forget the austere lecture: here, words and orchestra move forward as equals. Born from the Opera's sustainable workshop, this form blends shared knowledge with artistic experience, never reducing the music to mere background. Ideas, images and scores answer one another, giving rise to a different kind of attention, more sensitive and more open. The result is an evening that breathes, where you think as much as you listen. It is an ideal date for the curious and music lovers alike, who leave with questions and beauty filling their minds.

Evrard Wendenbaum, explorer of biodiversity

Alongside the orchestra, speaker Evrard Wendenbaum opens the doors to worlds once thought lost. An explorer, photographer and filmmaker, and president of the NGO Naturevolution, he devotes his life to documenting the planet's last wild territories. The evening first addresses the stakes of biodiversity in a broad, concrete way, before anchoring in a precise case: Indonesian Wallacea, a region of exceptional richness now under threat. His fieldworker's perspective gives flesh to major ecological questions, far from abstract speeches, and makes the subject surprisingly alive.

The Opera orchestra, conducted by Marco Orazio Vallone

The Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine orchestra holds its full place in the evening, led by conductor Marco Orazio Vallone. Here the music does not illustrate the words: it is their counterpoint, sometimes echo, sometimes breath, giving reflection a tangible relief and a particular depth. Hearing an orchestra in the acoustic setting of the Opera remains a singular experience, where every nuance carries. For visitors, it is also a chance to discover the city's musical life beyond a classical concert, in a rare dialogue between science and art.

The Opera on place Stanislas, during your stay

The Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine occupies one of the pavilions of place Stanislas, an 18th-century jewel listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Attending an evening here extends the magic of the place all the way beneath the hall's gilding. From our apartments, a few minutes on foot are enough to reach the square, its golden gates and its cafés. Plan to arrive early to stroll the illuminated square before curtain-up, and to dine nearby: the evening fits naturally into a successful Nancy weekend.
