EssentiELLES: women musicians in the spotlight at the Humanities University Library
Happening now
Photographer Isabelle Mansuy (FreEza Photography) devotes a series of portraits to women musicians, captured live in concert. Hosted at the Humanities University Library, the exhibition invites a fresh look at those too often left in the shadows of music programming. Free entry, wheelchair accessible.
What the exhibition is about
Each photograph, taken candidly in concert, gives presence to these artists from varied backgrounds. Their voices, gestures and instruments open up singular worlds. The exhibition suggests listening to the images rather than proving these musicians exist: it simply gives them the space they already occupy.
