Magasin aux vivres of Metz
After the siege of 1552, when Charles V tried in vain to retake the city, Metz was given a formidable citadel. At the centre of this vast rectangle, a food store was built in 1569 to hold the garrison's reserves: it is the oldest 16th-century military building still intact. The work of Rocco Guerrini, in Renaissance style, it now houses the luxury hotel La Citadelle and the gourmet restaurant La Réserve.
