0.15 Essais Dynamiques
Opened in 2017 on the Île du Saulcy, at the heart of the Metz campus of the University of Lorraine, the gallery 0.15 // Essais Dynamiques is a space devoted to emerging creation. It shows university artistic production as well as young local, national and international scenes. At once an exhibition, teaching and research venue, it is an address for anyone wanting to take the pulse of a scene still finding itself, free of charge and on weekdays.
A university gallery at Le Saulcy
The gallery occupies Building A of the former IECL, on the Île du Saulcy, home to the Metz campus of the University of Lorraine. Founded in 2017, it is run by the university and conceived as a space for experiments — hence its name. It shows the work of fine-arts students as well as proposals by young artists from elsewhere, in a setting that embraces the experimental gesture rather than market value.
Creation, teaching and research
0.15 // Essais Dynamiques combines three missions. First an artistic one: to disseminate university creation and emerging scenes. Then a teaching one: to serve as a testing ground for arts programmes, from staging works to cultural mediation. Finally a research one: to promote research-creation in visual arts, blending theory and studio practice. This triple vocation makes the gallery as much a training tool as an exhibition space.
