MJC Metz-Sud
MJC Metz-Sud is a youth and culture centre on Rue du XXe Corps Américain, in the south of the city. Built in the late 1970s, it brings culture and leisure close to local residents. Like any MJC, it's a friendly community facility geared to hands-on activities and social ties, open to all ages.
Culture and leisure close to home
The MJC offers a range of activities for children, young people and adults: varied dance (contemporary, classical, world dance), theatre, singing, games such as chess, creative and illustration workshops, plus homework support and outings. It's a place to take part and meet rather than a site to tour: people come to join in, learn and share moments with their neighbours.
What is an MJC?
An MJC—maison des jeunes et de la culture (youth and culture centre)—is a community facility for popular education, offering cultural, artistic and leisure activities open to all. Found across France, these bodies promote access to culture, civic involvement and neighbourhood life. MJC Metz-Sud, part of the local cultural network, has played this role in southern Metz for several decades.
