StoKaChic Exhibition: Unique Mathematical Jewelry
Happening now
What if mathematics could be worn at your fingertips? At its Metz campus, the Élie Cartan Institute of Lorraine hosts StoKaChic, a science-outreach exhibition conceived as a treasure hunt. Through a playful, interactive journey, it makes a lively field of research accessible, random geometry in hyperbolic space, by way of 3D-printed jewelry with shapes as beautiful as they are unpredictable. Each piece is unique, encoded by the randomness of a Poisson process, and offers an introduction to Poisson-Voronoi tessellations. A fine chance to admire the abstract turned into art and to grasp its complexity. Designed by artist and science communicator Vasilisa Nikiforova with researchers Matteo D'Achille and Nicolas Curien, the exhibition is open to everyone, adults and children aged 10 and up.
Jewelry born of chance
Each 3D-printed piece is unique: its shape is encoded by the randomness of a Poisson process in a non-Euclidean space.
